(Tropical-Polar Indonesia Symposium)

Connecting Polar and Tropical Marine Science for Sustainable Ocean Governance

BRIN-NASC TROPIS 2026 (Tropical-Polar Indonesia Symposium) is a scientific forum that brings together researchers, international partners, students, and the younger generation to strengthen networks and the development of Indonesia’s polar sciences. This activity is part of a research collaboration between BRIN and the National Antarctic Scientific Center (NASC) of Ukraine through the Joint Ukrainian-Indonesian Surveys: From Polar Regions to Tropics program. The program covers eight research proposals from BRIN and Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) across various fields, ranging from paleoclimatology, geology, oceanography, biogeochemistry, and marine population genetics, to the socio-political science of climate knowledge. This series of collaborations will be continued through a field expedition to Antarctica in December 2026.

POWERING REBANA 2026: REBANA ENERGY TRANSITION FORUM is a strategic seminar that brings together local governments, BRIN, industry players, energy providers, academics, and international partners to accelerate the energy transition in the Rebana Region as a competitive, low-carbon industrial corridor. Carrying the theme Accelerating Energy Transition for a Competitive and Low-Carbon Industrial Corridor, this seminar serves as a space for dialogue that brings together scientific evidence, international experience, local government needs, and industry perspectives. This activity is expected to produce follow-up priorities and collaboration opportunities in research, policy, capacity building, and pilot projects to support Rebana as a competitive and sustainable industrial region.

Accelerating Indonesia’s Palm Oil Strategy: Balancing 3F, B50, and ISPO Sustainability for National Resilience and Global Competitiveness

THE 3RD IPORICE 2026 is a seminar and expo that serves as a platform to integrate various research and innovations, facilitate collaborative meetings among stakeholders, and showcase the latest research results and innovations in the palm oil industry. The theme raised, covering the issues of 3F (Food, Fuel, and Feed), B50, and ISPO sustainability, is expected to contribute to supporting President Prabowo’s Asta Cita in realizing the Indonesia Emas 2045 vision, in which a sustainable palm oil industry will become one of the important engines of growth for national development.

Accelerating Science, Technology, and Innovation for Disaster Mitigation and Recovery

International Disaster Technology Summit 2026 (IDTS 2026) is a forum that showcases science, technology, and innovation from BRIN and its national and international partners, to support disaster mitigation efforts and accelerate post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction across Indonesia. This forum brings together cross-disciplinary research achievements, ranging from multi-hazard risk modeling, earthquake-resistant housing technology, and early warning systems, to health and social vulnerability, adaptive social protection, and economic recovery for affected communities. IDTS serves as a shared space for BRIN, central and local governments, BNPB, and development partners to align research results with real needs in the field, while strengthening the nation’s disaster preparedness and resilience.

From Research to the Public: Communicating Innovation through Popular Articles

The Popular Article Writing Workshop is a capacity-building forum designed to help researchers, academics, and members of the academic community communicate complex research results into popular writing that is accurate, engaging, easy to understand, and relevant to the wider public. The workshop emphasizes the importance of defining the target readership and the angle of the piece, finding the key message, crafting an engaging title and lead, and developing a narrative based on data and facts without reducing scientific substance. Through presentations by media practitioners, writing exercises, and sharing sessions, participants are guided to produce popular articles that can broaden the reach of science communication, improve public understanding of research results, and connect scientific knowledge with the issues and needs of society.

Research and Innovation Communication Forum (FKRI) 2026-2027

A Communication Bridge for Evidence-Based Policy and National Development

The Research and Innovation Communication Forum (FKRI) 2026-2027 is a strategic forum that brings together Ministries/Agencies (K/L), the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), and the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas to identify, set the agenda for, and align the needs of policy studies, research, and innovation with national development priorities. This forum serves as a coordination space to ensure that the knowledge and scientific evidence needs of Ministries/Agencies can be translated into a research and innovation agenda that is relevant, focused, and responsive to development dynamics. FKRI is also directed at strengthening coordination and synchronization across stakeholders in formulating strategic policy recommendations, including top-down agendas, quick wins, and cross-sector priorities.
